Stay Safe: Liggett Law Group Offering Free Cab Rides Home July 4th

It is no secret that Texans love to celebrate Independence Day with family, friends and fireworks, but all too often the festivities turn tragic on Lubbock roads. The fact is, the Fourth of July is one of the deadliest holidays of the year due to drunk driving. If you or someone you know needs safe transportation home this holiday, please call 744-HURT during the hours of 12:00 pm on July 4th to 2:00 am on July 5th. The Liggett Law Group will arrange and pay for a cab to drive your party home.

According to NHTSA, during the July 4th holiday period over the last five years (from 2008 to 2012), 765 people lost their lives in car crashes involving drivers with a BAC of .08 or more. These fatalities account for 40% percent of all motor vehicle traffic fatalities over this same five-year period. These are scary statistics and sadly, completely preventable.

All too often in Lubbock celebrations, the designated driver does not remain sober but instead enjoys a few drinks and thinks that they are just ‘buzzed’ and not drunk. Buzzed driving is drunk driving. There is no difference between the two. We are asking for your support to remind your friends and loved ones to plan ahead. Make sure your Fourth of July list includes not only hot dogs for the grill, but also a sober ride home. The only red, white, and blue we want anyone to see this holiday should be from the fireworks and flags, not from cops and ambulances.

If you do find yourself in an unsafe situation this 4th of July, do not get behind the wheel or into the car with someone who has been drinking. Call 744-HURT and Liggett Law Group will arrange and pay for your party’s cab ride home. In our line of work we see unnecessary motor vehicle accidents and injuries every day. If we can help prevent some of those for one day, it’s worth it.
